2010

As it's new years eve I guess I should do a little end of year/ start of new year post...

2010 was nothing special looking back, nothing out of the ordinary but still a good year. It started with a baptism of fire working new years eve night (I hope never to again), it was the first year the Easter bunny didn't visit me, I went to some awesome antique/ vintage shops and visited Camden for the first time (I've been missing out there), discovered fish spas and even enjoyed a somewhat short but very hot summer, visited the dinosaurs at the museum and even had tea at Harrods and lots of snow. I also became Cliffe Woods community responder. On the bad side of 2010- I worked nearly 2000 hours- that sucks, I discovered some peoples true colours and not all of them were that pretty and I'm not partying tonight as I'm back at work tomorrow morning.

If I'm honest I don't remember setting any new years resolutions and if I did I clearly didn't stick to them as I can even remember them! But this year I'd like to.....

1) do more exercise- I did start pilates this year but got side tracked so I will start again, I've already got a yoga mat

2) eat healthier- I always say this in hope I'll do it

3) go vintage- I've been thinking about it for a while and have decided screw what everyone else thinks I like it so I'll wear it

4) try tightlacing- this links to 3 (and a bit into 1 and 2) but I'd like a tinier waist (not permanently) but so I can fit into tiny weeney vintage dresses

5) be happy and care free- obviously to totally do this is somewhat impossible unless I win the lottery (fingers crossed) but I'd like to be a lot happier with myself and things I do and want to do and not care what other people think or try to say about it or other things for that matter

6) finish those 2 damn cross stitches that I started last January

7) read lots more- I haven't done too bad this year but still not good enough

I think that's about it and take every day as it comes, maybe quit facebook but we'll see. And as for tonight I plan to have a long hot candlelit bath then I'm off to bed- Happy New Year everyone!!! xxx

Hehe

I just did something crazy and a little spontaneous, there's a dress I've been eying up on Etsy for a little while from the fabulous fabgabs. Well today it was in the sale and I bought it (its New Years Eve why not treat myself) thing is its a dressy dress, one you'd wear to a ball but I can stop thinking that I'd love it as a wedding dress! Not that I'm engaged or even have a boyfriend for that matter but I shall treasure it, wear it to a ball or two if I'm lucky enough to go to any and if not then I'll frame or sit and stare at it like Miss Havisham anyway I love it.

greatest friend

I've decided- I'm going vintage, I plan to turn most of my wardrobe into either genuine vintage pieces or vintage style pieces, not so much so that I look like I'm in the wrong period but just enough to look glamorous and sexy. On my search for perfect dresses I've come across another delightful Etsy store greatestfriend and they have the most wonderful dresses, there's 3 I really really want and the white one is just stunning.

Dane Vintage

On one of my (many) eBay trawls of vintage dresses I came across an amazing eBay store Dane Vintage- all of the dresses are stunning ranging from the 20's to the 70's. I just had to buy this wool knit dress which after a month of waiting, as it was coming from America, I received this morning- it has to be the best early Christmas present ever (even if I did buy it myself)

Sale finds so far...

Dita

I love Dita Von Teese and I must admit I've become a little obsessed...

sales

Christmas is nearly here and I'm getting very excited and have been baking Christmas gingerbread cookies. However with Christmas comes THE SALES! I hate going to the sales in person- it drives me crazy with people fighting over things, following people round to try and get that coat they want and that's all if you can find a parking space in the beginning! So I plan to do my sale shopping right here on my laptop, I've done some pre-sale scouting of things I'd like and hope are in the sale- theres some beautiful bags from ASOS and some lovely tweed, country style pieces from Cooper & Stollbrand (who I wish I had found sooner) and some other beautiful pieces from River Island. Theres also a set of bedding from Urban Outfitters that I've had my eye on for a while now- it's £159 just for the duvet cover and that is rather a lot too much! So fingers crossed I can get most of the things I want at low prices!

trousers

I've never been a trouser person, I always find them too smart and and I can never find a cut I like that's flattering. I love vintage styles though and I'm slowly turning my wardrobe into a vintage wonderland and I've found these trousers the first pair from Joy and the second from Topshop. I've also been on the hunt for vintage jewellery and more dresses on eBay and I've found a few but I can't buy them all otherwise I'll have one empty bank account and dipping into my savings seems greedy!

it's snowing

The snow is crazy- its about 10" maybe even more now and it's still snowing lightly but constantly and it's feeling Christmassy!

Chanel No 5

I love perfume adverts for Chanel and as it's nearing Christmas theres been loads on TV my favourite is the one with Audrey Tautou in, she's so pretty and the guy is so hot, it's such a beautiful advert in a perfect 1930's world.

Mad Men

At the moment I have inflammation/ an infection of the inner ear and I feel like I'm at sea on a little rowing boat so I've been feeling sorry for myself and looking at pretty things on the internet to pass the time. During my browsing I've come across the TV show 'Mad Men'- I've never heard of it until today but it looks like it could be pretty good and the vintage fashion in it looks fantastic, I'm just worried if I started watching it I'd only be looking at the dresses!

Not only that I've become very excited about Christmas, I've seen the Coco-Cola advert a few times now so it is offically Christmas and we're being threatened by impeding doom in the form of snow- of which I've yet to see any! I've put my mini Christmas tree up (I think it needs some lights) and my Harrods Father Christmas face and I've even started wrapping up presents and writing cards!!! So far on my Christmas list there's a few books- The Group which has been deemed the original Sex and the City and I love the vintage-ness of it and Dita Von Teese's Burlesque and the Art of the Teese / Fetish and the Art of the Teese just because it looks fantastic and glamorous. I'd also like some 'Cowshed' bath stuff and Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional. Jewllery wise I'd like the Cath Kidston London charm bracelet and Rock n Rose's wishbone bracelet- not much hehe!

Rob Ryan

I've become Rob Ryan obsessed lately and I love these Staffordshire cats and today my Rob Ryan plates came!!

Sunday 28 November 2010

mamie van doren

How beautifully stunning.

Topshop Limited Editions!

I'm a sucker for sequins and these limited edition topshop dresses are stunning. The pink one is my favourite, I love the detail of it, I'm tempted to get one, maybe I should add it to my Christmas list- wish is very long already!

feathers!

I love this Mango skirt, its so fluffy and feathery and its such a cute, girly skirt.

jumpers

It's so cold this week and I'm so excited about Christmas, I've already done some Christmas shopping but everytime I look for presents I get distracted and find things I like and want. Miss Selfridge have the cutest jumpers right now and they have a cute vintage look to them- I want them all! Hopefully I'll be posting a little more over the coming weeks mainly with little Christmas trinkets I've found and pretty things.

just something i found and thought was interesting

you eat, you’re fat. you don’t eat, you’re a freak. you drink, you’re an alcoholic. you don’t drink, you’re a pussy. you read, you’re a nerd. you don’t read, you’re stupid. you tell a secret, you’re an attention seeker. you don’t tell a secret, you’re still attention seeking. you let someone in, you’re easy. you don’t let someone in, you’re too uptight. you smoke, you think you’re cool. you don’t smoke, you’re a loser. you’ve had sex, you’re a slut. you haven’t had sex, you’re a frigid little bitch. you wear make up, you’re a slag. you don’t wear make up, you’re ugly. you can’t please anyone. ever

A Royal Engagement

Prince William and Kate (Catherine) Middleton have just announced their engagement! I think they're a wonderful couple and I love Kate's style and aura and I think I may be buying and hat and traveling to London for the big day- it's one of those opportunities you can't miss.

Sunday 7 November 2010

Wedgewood

I found some cute little earrings on eBay by Wedgewood, they're clip on as I don't have pierced ears but I love them and they were a bargain- only £5.99 (originally £59.55)!!! They're blue with little cupids on.

Harrods

The actual land of dreams, after 5 hours someone lost and dazed in this amazing store I've realised I need to win the lottery! It's amazing- both the building and decor as well as the food and the amazing goodies they sell! And here's what I bought in their Christmas World- I'm so excited for Christmas.
