Camden II

Today I went to Camden for the second time and if I'm honest I was a little disapointed this time round, I know it's mid week but there wasn't a lot open and the vintage shops were full of nothing really. I did manage to find a few things- another fox fur, this one is a silver fox though and from the 1930's and she's lovely (I've decided it's a she), a pair of clip on diamante earrings, 2 pairs of shoes and a cardigan. Ebay seems to have a lot of gems at the moment and there's a few dresses I want from there, I think I'm going to have to sell some stuff soon, I have far too much!

Also I have the worst backache ever and I'm stupidly tired so after dinner I'll be having a nice hot bath.

Chucktastic

I love Chuck, she is my style inspiration and also the reason I baked a summer berry pie last week! I think another trip to Camden is on the cards and a little spree on eBay.

I found it!!!

Ever since I saw this picture of Blake Lively in this stunning Kate Moss dress I've been trying to hunt it down and finally I've found not one but two on eBay (it's actually taken a good year or so). I'm so excited and this will be something I defiantly won't forget to bid on!

Minolta

Today I bought something I've wanted for a while- an SLR 35mm film camera. I found it in Oxfam today whilst out getting some fresh air for the first time in two weeks and it's awesome. I'm not 100% sure how to work it but I've always loved trial and error so I'll buy some film and new batteries and see how it goes. And here it is my lovely little Minolta X-300...

Simplicity 2588

Today my first ever dress pattern came through the post from *butterfly*vintage* on eBay. I've never ever set hands on a dress pattern so it's probably going to go disastrously wrong but we'll see. I plan to make view 2 as it looks easier (it's probably not) but I'm one for working backwards too so I'll do 2 first then 1, I like the look of the cut short and bodice set too. Now all I have to do is buy material once I've decided what pattern and material to pick, it says I should use cotton, rayons or sharkskin(?!?!) I think I'm going to go for cotton and maybe just plain white or baby blue but I'll see what I can find and I'll keep you updated! Also the lady I bought the pattern from also has this cute vintage store.

These are the kind of girls

These are the kind of girls who hang dream catchers above their beds, who eat pomegranates and read old history books for fun. These are the kind of girls who take pictures of their hands with disposable cameras and wallpaper their bathrooms with pretty roses. These girls sketch eyes and mouths and little drawings all over things, they look you right in the eye and almost through you when you speak to them.

These girls camp out in their backyards for fun, they light candles everywhere, and if you visit then at home they usually have all sorts of animals. Their wardrobes are filled with silk robes and bows and hats, they drink tall glasses of milk and snack on chocolate while they watch the sun rise. These are the kind of girls who ride bikes through the city to the cinema that plays old movies in the middle of the day. They watch “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” or “Rosemary’s Baby”. These are the kind of girls who are quiet in public. They were the kind of girls who put too many marshmallows in their hot chocolate, and when the snow came down, lit the fire and pretended to be in the North Pole. They would water colour things they couldn’t see, and eat French toast for lunch. These girls were the kind of girls who always believed in unicorns, they believed in the power of love and dreams. They were the kind of girls who gazed out of windows at bigger worlds, and rain made them think of faeries and tree houses. In the summer they read Jane Austin and listened to Fleetwood Mac while sipping cold tomato juice.

They told ghost stories under the huge floral sheets, candles glowing below their faces. The spooky endings made them scream and laugh. They huddled together so they wouldn’t get too scared. Every sound outside made them jump.

Mill Street Vintage

Today I can finally breathe without too much pain but have spent the day in bed watching Lassie and looking on the internet. I bought the playsuit I mentioned yesterday as a get well present to myself and today I've been staring at these wonderful dresses from Mill Street Vintage- they're absolutely stunning and practically perfect, some of
them go for quite a lot of money (quite understandably) and if I had the places to wear them I'd bid too, also as they're genuine vintage some of the waist sizes are a lot tinier than mine (which reminds me my tighlacing corset came today and once this chest infection has cleared up I shall be starting) My favorite has to be the the red plaid dress with the cute bow and the cute blue little jacket, also follow them here on facebook for little sneak previews and photos of their past gems.

Playsuits

How have I not found these guys before?! Rokit is an actual goldmine of vintage goodies, clothes, homeware, accessories, children's clothes and footwear! And this has to be one of my favourite finds on there

And here's another adorable playsuit I found on Etsy from souvenirsouvenir it's from the 1940's and has a detachable skirt that you can wear over the short bottoms.

The Queen

I do have a guilty love of the Queen and the idea of the royal family. I like the fact they live in a completely different world and it's such a unique one even compared to other countries and their monarchy or the monarchies they once had. Plus I think the Queen was absolutely stunning when she was younger and she looks remarkably good for her age even now.

Cut Throat Razor

This was a new years thing I missed out, I want to learn how to use a cut throat razor this year- it's somewhat of a dying art in this country I think and look what I found on Etsy!

ill

Looks like the winter lurgy has finally caught up with me I have a chest infection and pleurisy again (I had it 2years back and it was the worst thing ever) I have really bad back and chest pain when I breathe and unfortunately the only way to stop the pain is to stop breathing- and somehow I don't think that's a good idea!!! So I will spend the day laying in bed/ on the sofa with a hot water bottle, dosed up on painkillers with lots of tea and trawling the internet so expect about a million posts.

Favorite Houses

Here are some snapshots (thanks to google streetmap) of some of my favorite houses near where I live, they're so cute and dainty and although I feel like I'm invading peoples privacy its better than me standing outside their houses taking photos and plus I'm saying how beautiful their houses are!!
